We have an extraordinary mix of experience and specialist skills in the practice. Not only that, all our practitioners are involved in community projects both locally and internationally. Here are just a few highlights to give you a flavour of our versatility:
- Alison Bloxham provides physiotherapy and sports massage skills to the British team for the World Transplant Games and also organizes Physiotherapy provision for the British Transplant Games which take place annually. (www.transplantsport.org.uk). This year's British Games are in Bath in August 2010 and the next World Games will be in Göteborg, Sweden in June 2011.
- The practice has a policy of being actively involved in the career development of newly qualified Physiotherapy practitioners by offering supervised 'internships'.
- Dagmar Johnson and Pauline Speak are committed members of the local Mountain Rescue Team who help hundreds of tourists and visitors to the Lake District every year.
- Alison Bloxham continues to provide her expertise to Kendal NHS services at the Kendal NHS Treatment Centre.
- Erica Donnison teaches students at the Alexander Technique teacher training school at Fellside in Kendal, and is a member of the Council of her professional body, the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT). Erica is also the only qualified Pose Running Coach in the area, and the only person in the UK to combine Pose Running with the Alexander Technique to help people run with more freedom and poise and less pain.
- Barbara Cushnie provides her TCM Acupuncture skills to the Furness Dance Leaders contemporary dance performance group and sings in a choir.
- A number of our team are furthering their knowledge and academic qualifications through Masters degrees.
- Several of our team are involved in teaching other practitioners in; Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Alexander Technique and Sports Massage.
- Darren Harris is one of just a dozen people in the UK to be fully qualified in Structural Integration (or Rolfing as it sometimes known). He studied at the world's best centre for Rolfing in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
- Haru Sekiya is a professional musician and teaches the violin in addition to her Osteopathy.
- All of our practitioners are qualified to the highest possible level within their respective specialist fields.
